Next Steps

It appears you were near someone who was diagnosed with COVID-19. There is a possibility that you were exposed and may now be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19.

Act now to care for yourself and help protect your family and the rest of Guam from COVID-19.

For the next 14 days:

1. Take care of yourself and monitor for the signs and symptoms of COVID-19:

Get plenty of rest, eat healthy foods, and keep well hydrated

Be alert for cough, fever, shortness of breath, diarrhea, sore throat, loss of taste or smell

If you develop any of these symptoms call your healthcare provider ahead of visiting the medical clinic

Tell them you are ill and may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. (See below for clinics offering testing to people with a Guam COVID Alert exposure notification and symptoms of COVID-19)

2. Protect others: Prevent spreading the virus to others. Even if you feel fine, you still could have the virus and unknowingly infect others. Take steps to avoid unnecessary contact with others:

If possible, work from home

Don’t attend family gatherings, go to restaurants, bars, or church services

Avoid going shopping, unless urgent

Separate yourself from your family as much as possible

Sleep in a different room, eat alone, and use a separate bathroom if possible.

Always wear a mask and wash your hands frequently

3. Act now: Don’t delay in taking the steps to fight COVID-19.
